One Gidleigh Park

Unique Luxury Cottage

Chagford, Dartmoor, Devon

One Gidleigh Park is a detached boutique self catering holiday cottage situated in the upper reaches of the River Teign Valley in the foothills of rugged Dartmoor.

This unusual timber property is totally surrounded by a 1 acre garden of lawn, terraces, herbaceous borders and ancient woodland. The seclusion, privacy and clean air will really appeal to those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday city life at any time of year.

Although the house is private and located deep within the Dartmoor National Park, it’s only a 5 minute drive and a pleasant half an hour walk from the attractive, vibrant stannary town of Chagford. It’s also a short stroll away from the luxurious two Michelin starred Gidleigh Park Hotel which makes it convenient for those who want to visit for lunch, afternoon tea or dinner and wander around its stunning gardens. The tiny village of Gidleigh, with its beautiful church and Norman castle, is a close walk away through woodland and field.

The house was constructed in 1929 as the cook’s residence on the estate of the private house that subsequently became the Gidleigh Park Hotel. It was built by Boulton & Paul, a company specialising in British aircraft manufacturing, construction engineering and shepherd’s huts! This original wooden home has been lovingly restored and extended over the last few years. The new luxury contemporary interior now houses a combination of modern designer and antique furnishings.
