We came down to Devon after Christmas to visit Chagford for a few days and stayed at this lovely house – yes, it is unique! The location was stunning and being there in the middle of winter in our log cabin in the woods was wonderful. We felt as though we were miles from anywhere even though we were minutes from Chagford which had everything that you needed. We went on a couple of walks up the river from the house on to the moor to Kestor Rock and the Tolmen Stone. There was lots to do but we chose to do very little at all which suited us at the time! We visited Gidleigh Park Hotel for dinner and lunch – both great experiences, especially as we could enjoy an extra couple of drinks as our house was effectively on the estate. The property was warm, luxurious and light with a very comfortable bed. The towelling robes and the welcome pack were nice touches. The house book guide was really helpful. We would love to try and return at some point soon. Thumbs up!
We booked this beautiful house at the last minute for a long weekend. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we could not have wanted for anything. The welcome hamper was a great touch and the beds were very comfortable. The location of the house was perfect – you felt as though you were in the middle of nowhere, however we had a 2 Michelin Star hotel next door and lovely Chagford down the lane. The countryside was stunning – great walks and we ate far too much! This place is definitely on our list to come back to.
